Ashleigh Barty v Heather Watson Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Barty Competing in her First Event since Olympics
Top seed Ash Barty is set to compete in her first professional tournament since the Tokyo Olympics last month where she was beaten in the first round by Sara Sorribes Tormo.
Of course, that shocking defeat there doesn’t do justice to her phenomenal season that comprises four singles titles and a runner-up trophy. The 25-year-old cricketer-turned-tennis star won the Yarra Valley Classic, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open, and Wimbledon, along with reaching the final in the Madrid Open (losing to Aryna Sabalenka).
Add to this her bronze medal haul in Tokyo in the mixed doubles discipline with John Peers, it is safe to say that she is on cloud nine at the moment.
Starting with a bye into the second round, Barty will hope to continue her heroics in Cincinnati. The last time the Australian played here, she ended up reaching the semifinal.

Watson Overcomes Sasnovich
Heather Watson started her campaign in the Western & Southern Open with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over the Belarusian qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
This result marks her best run on the tour since the Viking Classic Birmingham where she was a semifinalist. Between the two events, Watson featured in Eastbourne, Wimbledon, and the Olympics where she lost her opening-round matches.
The 29-year-old arrived for the competition with a win-loss tally of 7-14 and a singles ranking of world number 67, which certainly tells us a lot about the year she has had. Except for that semifinal run in Birmingham and a round of 16 appearance in Nottingham, Watson has not made it past the early rounds in any other tournament this season.
Starting as a qualifier in Cincinnati, she delivered a commendable performance against Katie Volynets and Rebecca Peterson to reach the main draw.
Interestingly, this is also the first time that Watson has reached the second round in the competition since she started playing here in 2013.
Barty v Watson Prediction and Tip
Barty may be a bit rusty owing to a lack of playing time of late but given her overall season, she should be able to move into the third round with a straight-set win over Watson.
Tip: Barty to win 2-0 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
