Naomi Osaka v Cori Gauff Head to Head
There have been two previous matches played between them and both, Osaka and Gauff have won one apiece. The first match came at the 2019 US Open where Osaka won before Gauff had her revenge in the following year’s Australian Open.

While Osaka did feature at the Tokyo Olympics and was bundled out in the third round, she will be featuring in her first WTA match since the infamous exit from Roland-Garros.
After opting not to participate at the press conferences there, she had been castigated and cited mental health issues for her withdrawal from her second round match.
Following that, Osaka missed the entire grass swing before returning to competitive tennis at the Olympics back home. And while she began with a couple of wins against Shuai Zheng and Viktorija Golubic, Osaka was beaten in straight sets by Marketa Vondrousova in the third.
Will this rustiness of having not played a lot of tennis in recent times come back to haunt Osaka against a super-talented opponent? We think she should find herself a gear but Gauff could give her a solid fight.

Gauff Eases Past Hsieh in Opener
Having made it to the quarterfinal in Montreal last week, Gauff will hope she can go a lot further than that but standing in her way is the world number two.
What should give Gauff the confidence coming into a match like that is the manner of her win in both, her previous round match and the one against Osaka the last time they faced off.
Gauff crushed Su-wei Hsieh 6-1, 6-2 in a match lasting a mere hour and two minutes, and in the same day then won her doubles encounter too. Add to that title win in Parma, a quarterfinal at French Open and the fourth round appearance at Wimbledon and Gauff will come into this match knowing what she is capable of.
