Belinda Bencic v Jil Teichmann Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in 2017 in Taipei and Bencic had won that quarterfinal in straight sets against Teichmann.

A gold medallist at the Tokyo Olympics, Bencic has continued with her good form as she overcame all three of her opponents in this tournament so far in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals.
The latest of those opponents for Bencic was Karolina Muchova, whom she defeated 7-5, 2-1 to make it to the next stage. The retirement obviously helped but there was nothing to suggest that Bencic was going to suddenly lose her form which had already seen her win eight matches in a row coming into this one.
Bencic was on court for an hour and 16 minutes and faced just one break-point in that time. And while that came at a crucial time while serving for the set at 5-4 – she was broken – it was followed by another break of serve for Bencic following which she clinched the set on her own serve.
This was followed by an early break of serve in the second set before Muchova opted out of the contest.
Earlier Bencic had beaten Marketa Vondrousova and Shelby Rogers to make it to the third round.

Teichmann Stuns Osaka
It wasn’t the kind of result one would have expected, but in what was the biggest shock of the competition so far, Teichmann overcame the world number two Naomi Osaka to reach the quarterfinals.
This will be the second time in her career that Teichmann will be participating in a WTA 1000 quarterfinal, following on from her brilliant showing in Dubai earlier this year where she had reached the semis.
Since that Dubai semifinal, however, Teichmann’s form had fallen flat but a solid showing here in Cincinnati, defeating Sorana Cirstea and Bernarda Pera had taken her to the third round.
Against Osaka, Teichmann was a 3/1 underdog to win but came through from a set down to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in two hours and six minutes and seal the last eight berth.

Bencic might be a tad wary of her opponent here considering Teichmann’s form but can expect her to come through this one given the kind of rhythm she is in.
