Egor Gerasimov v Norbert Gombos Head to Head
Gerasimov and Gombos have been involved in just one, career head-to-head meeting till date. The pair met at the round-robin stages of the indoor clay court event at Slovakia in 2018, with Gerasimov prevailing in three sets.

Gerasimov Fell to Nishioka in Cincinnati qualifier
Coming into the Cincinnati Masters after a disappointing opening-round defeat to fellow Belarussian Illya Ivashka, Gerasimov was drawn to face Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan in a qualifier to earn a ticket to the main draw.
However, the Belarussian, ranked 84th in singles currently, failed to clear the qualifying hurdle as he went down in straight sets to see his hopes of reaching the main draw vanish into thin air.
While his returns at Tour events have been humble at best, Gerasimov hasn’t fared any better in Grand Slam tennis this year, finishing in the second round at the Wimbledon Championships and suffering an opening-round exit at Roland-Garros.
Eyeing a turnaround in his fortunes in time for the US Open, 28-year-old Gerasimov will open his campaign at Winston-Salem against veteran Slovakian Norbert Gombos.
Though the Slovakian has been a journeyman at best on the men’s circuit, he recently had a strong finish in Sweden and won’t be easy for the Belarussian to overcome.

Gombos Also Failed to Qualify for Cincinnati
Currently just outside the Top-100 in singles, Gombos arrived for the Canadian Open on the back of a quarter-final finish at the Swedish Open but failed to pick up from where he had left off in Nordic land.
Drawing seasoned Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis in a qualifier for the main draw at Toronto, Gombos fell to a defeat in straight sets.
His next qualifying campaign in the quest of making the grade at the Cincinnati Masters also ended in disappointment as the Slovakian was routed 2-6, 2-6 by Jaume Munar of Spain.
He has now arrived at the Winston-Salem Open in the hope of salvaging a season that has seen little in the way of wins and titles. However, in Gerasimov, he faces a tough opponent in his tournament opener who beat him in their only previous head-to-head meeting.
Gerasimov v Gombos Prediction and Tip
Going by the head-to-head record, Gerasimov starts as favorite in this first-round clash against Gombos. But if the Slovakian could be anywhere close to the form that took him to the quarter-finals at the Swedish Open, the Belarussian would have to be at his best to go past him.
