Misaki Doi v Jasmine Paolini Head to Head

Doi has been in three senior WTA finals, winning set Luxembourg Open In 2015, and suffering defeat in Taiwan the following year , and on home soil, in Japan, two years ago, although she did have the consolation of winning the doubles event at that same tournament.

Her Grand Slam record is poor, though, particularly at the US Open, where she has only reached the second round once in nine previous attempts.
Recent form suggests that she will do well to better that next week. Picked by Japan to play in her home Olympics, she beat a Mexican in the first round, but was then comfortably beaten by the eventual gold medallist, Belinda Bencic of Switzerland.
She then lost in the first round of the ITF event, also played in Chicago last week, beaten in three sets by the Russian Varvara Gracheva.

Paolini Enjoyed Success on Clay in Europe
Paolini is enjoying a breakthrough season, having broken back inro the top 100 again>
That was due tom her form during the European clay court season, where, together with partner Jil Teichmann, she won the doubles at the Hamburg open.
In Maty she also reached her first 125k final, losing to another Swiss woman, Viktorija Golubic in Saint-Malo. But she went one better the following month in Bel, Croatia, beating Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands.
Chosen to play for Italy at the Olympics, she suffered a first round defeat to the Czech Petra Kvitova, and was next in action in Cincinnati.
She came through two rounds of qualifying to make the main draw, but then lost in straight sets to Veronika Kudermetova.
