Richard Gasquet v Egor Gerasimov Head to Head

Starting out his season at the Murray River Open in February, Gasquet has featured in only three more tournaments on hard court surfaces since then.
Two of them came earlier in the year itself while more recently, Gasquet made it to the main draw of the Cincinnati Masters with wins over Fernando Verdasco and Jaume Munar. Unfortunately for him, that’s where his journey ended when the Frenchman lost to Andy Murray in straight sets in the opener.
And that’s bit of a surprise coming from Gasquet given nine of his 16 ATP titles have come in hard court tournaments.
A bye in the first round obviously helps but can Gasquet now make it count and register what will only be third match victory on hard court surfaces for this season? Against Gerasimov, he might have that chance.

Gerasimov Hunting for Rare Successive Wins
It was towards the end of February earlier this season that Gerasimov, by the virtue of reaching the semifinals at Montpellier Open, had last won successive matches.
Since then, the Belarusian player has featured in 17 tournaments – yes, that’s right, a whopping 17 – and is yet to win back to back encounters.
Which is why a hard-fought first round victory over Norbert Gombos will play some role in giving Gerasimov some confidence but the big question is whether that would be enough against Gasquet.
Gerasimov won 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-2 to haul himself into the second round in a match that lasted two hours and 36 minutes.
The first set, which in the end proved to be the decider, could have gone either way with both players getting themselves one break apiece but when it came to the tie-breaker, Gombos was always on the back-foot.
He did save two set-points in it but off the third, Gerasimov managed to clinch the set. And while Gombos levelled things out in the second, Gerasimov broke him twice in the final set to complete the victory.
Gasquet v Gerasimov Prediction and Tip
Gasquet will hold the edge against a player who has struggled to notch up wins all season. We could still see a three-setter.
