Marcos Giron v Federico Delbonis Head to Head

Giron did not come into this event in the best of form, having been beaten in the second round in Washington, failed to quality in Toronto, and then suffering first-round defeat in Cincinnati.
But he was given a made-to-measure first round opponent on Sunday night in the form of another Argentine, Facundo Bagnis, the world number 78, very much a clay court player, and managed to beat him in straight sets.
The American started strongly, breaking Bagnis in the opening game of the match. He held on to his lead until the tenth game when the Argentine broke back, only to immediately surrender his serve again. Giron served out to love.
The second set went with serve until Bagnis found himself three break points down on his own serve. He managed to save them all, but Giron fashioned another chance for himself, and this time took it, going on to seal the win in the next game.

Delbonis Enjoyed Successful Clay Court Season
The form of Delbonis during the clay court season helped him regain his place in the top fifty in the world after a gap of several years.
Highlights include a semi-final in Santiago and Belgrade, and trips to the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters and European Open in Hamburg.
Delbonis then reached the fourth round of the French Open, his best result to date at a Grand Slam.
Away from clay, his results tend to suffer. He only played one match on grass, and that saw him suffer a first round defeat in Wimbledon.
Last week, saw him make his first appearance on a hard court since Melbourne back in February, but he did not fare so well, beaten in the first round in Cincinnati by the Italian teenager Jannik Sinner.
He was granted a bye in the first round in Winston-Salem.
Giron v Delbonis Prediction and Tip
Although Giron is the lower ranked player, he is the favourite to win this match because of the surface. Delbonis is a clay court specialist and has had little practice on hard courts this year.
