Being the top seed, Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta will certainly see this as a good opportunity to add a title to his name.
Currently ranked 12th in the ATP rankings, the 30-year-old has had an impressive year and is in good form currently.
Most recently making a run to the quarterfinals of Cincinnati, defeating Koepfer and Hurkacz in straight sets, before falling short to Medvedev in a below par performance, winning just 2 games and losing 6-1 6-1 in 56 minutes.
Prior to this, Carreno Busta embarked on what would be a career highlight, taking home Olympic bronze for his country. He successfully overcame tough opponents in the shape of Sandgren, Cilic, Koepfer, and Medvedev before losing in the semi-final match to Russian Khanhanov 6-3 6-3.
However, this did not ruin his spirits as he managed to defeat Djokovic in the bronze medal match 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3 in 2 hours 49 minutes to secure a place on the podium.

Is Kwon Capable of Producing an Upset?
Kwon has been able to consistently produce good tennis to win opening round ties throughout the tournaments he has played in 2021 but has yet to secure 3 match wins in a row.
The Korean’s most noticeable performance comes on the clay of Roland Garros where he managed to reach the last-32, scoring an impressive win over Kevin Anderson in his opening round, defeating the South African 7-5 6-4 2-6 7-6(4). He then backed up this win by overcoming Seppi in straight sets before losing out to Wimbledon finalist Berrettini 7-6(6) 6-3 6-4.
Kwon successfully defeated Albot 6-2 7-5 in the opening round of Winston-Salem. Shooting down 7 aces, winning 74% of first serve points and 49% of return points, the 23-year-old posed himself as a threat, constantly placing pressure on Albot.
Kwon will be hoping to reverse the script that was written in Marbella and get the better of Carreno Busta in this 2nd round encounter, however, he is the significant underdog.
