Marton Fucsovics v Carlos Alcaraz Head to Head
Fucsovics and Alcaraz have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Fucsovics Overcomes Watanuki
Armed with a first round bye, Fucsovics came into his second round encounter against his 255th-ranked opponent Yosuke Watanuki as a heavy favourite. And while he won it in straight sets, his opponent had a few chances in the first set.
In a match lasting an hour and 32 minutes, Fucsovics was off to a flying start with a break off his opponent’s first ever service game but Watanuki surprised him by breaking him back immediately.
Watanuki then saved break-points in a couple of games, missed three of his own but then serving to stay in the set, he was broken by Fucsovics.
With Fucsovics, who is 10-5 on outdoor hard courts this season, having broken his opponent’s resistance, the second set went more to script as the Hungarian blew his opponent’s serve away. Breaking him twice, Fucsovics then served it out to love to win the match.
Can he now take down a supreme talent in the form of Alcaraz?

Alcaraz in a See-Saw Win over Popyrin
Alcaraz is a solid talent on clay but in defeating Alexei Popyrin in the second round on the hard courts of Winston-Salem he showed he will be willing to fight on this surface too.
Because in two hours and 22 minutes, Alcaraz managed to edge past Popyrin 6-7 (9), 6-1, 7-6 (1), never getting broken in the entire encounter in the process.
The first set had a grand total of one break-point opportunity and it came in the very first game off Popyrin’s serve. Once that went by, the set raced into the tie-breaker where Alcaraz saved four set-points before losing it off the fifth.
That would have flustered most but Alcaraz retaliated with back to back breaks that gave him a 5-0 lead before he wrapped up the equaliser. And while he failed to find himself a break of serve in the third, the tie-breaker went through easily in his favour as he sealed his victory.
If he can keep up his fighting spirit, Alcaraz could give Fucsovics a run for his money.
Fucsovics v Alcaraz Prediction and Tip
On paper on hard courts, Fucsovics should be a favourite here but we could see a fighting effort from Alcaraz and the match to get through to the third set.
