Aryna Sabalenka v Nina Stojanovic Head to Head

While they have played just once on the WTA tour, there have been five other meetings between these two players on the ITF circuit and Sabalenka has won each of the six matches before this.

Sabalenka Looking to Overcome Shock Cincinnati Exit

Sabalenka’s ascent to number two on the WTA rankings has been down to her consistency all season, the kind that has seen her win two titles this year and make it to the semifinal at Wimbledon in July.

Since then, however, Sabalenka would have loved to do a lot better.

At the Tokyo Olympics, the Belarusian fell to Donna Vekic in the second round and while she made it as far as the semifinal in Montreal, a 6-3, 6-4 drubbing at the hands of Karolina Pliskova wouldn’t have gone down too well.

And when Sabalenka then failed to close out her opening encounter against Paula Badosa at Cincinnati, losing in three sets, it would have probably been a time to reset.

She has had nearly two weeks to think through how things have gone and the champion player that Sabalenka has been all season, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise if she gets back to her winning ways soon.

Stojanovic Hasn’t Played in a Month

Since making it to the semifinal at Nottingham Open in early June, Stojanovic hasn’t had the opportunity to play a lot of tennis.

Part of it has been down to her early exits in most of the competitions she has been a part of, but more vitally, it’s also because she hasn’t played in a lot of competitions.

Losing in the opening round at both, Birmingham Open and Wimbledon, Stojanovic then managed a first round win in Prague, before falling in the second round at the Olympics.

Since then, however, Stojanovic hasn’t played any tennis and will be featuring in her first match. Can she get going against the world number two though? Looks improbable.

Sabalenka v Stojanovic Prediction and Tip

Sabalenka shouldn’t have too many issues walloping Stojanovic but the games handicap market looks a tempting one here. Surely Stojanovic has a chance at +7.5?
