Jabeur is 2-0 from their previous two meetings. The Tunisian lost the first set in both the matches (Eastbourne 2019 and Charleston 2021), but came back to win the next two advance.

Jabeur In Top Form
Ons Jabeur is in top form and the Tunisian will be one of the players to keep an eye on over the next two weeks.
Having finally won her maiden WTA title by beating Daria Kasatkina in the final in Birmingham, the World No. 21 made a first quarterfinal appearance in Wimbledon.
Her recent form on the hard courts of North America has been pretty good as well. She was a first time quarterfinalist at the Canadian Open and kncoked out Iga Swiatek for a second time this year to reach the third round of Cincinnati, but couldn’t find a way past Petra Kvitova.
The 27-year-old, who shot to limelight with her run to the last eight at the Australian Open last year, has a 38-15 record this season, which includes two final appearances. While she missed out on the title at the WTA 250 in Charleston, she finally triumphed in Birmingham.
Since her junior days, Jabeur has been a better player on clay, but it’s over the last two years when she has blossomed as a hard court player. She was 18-9 on the surface last year and brings in a 15-9 record to the U.S. Open this year. She faces a tough first-round opponent in Cornet, but if she is able to see her off, she could be in for an extended stay in New York.

Cornet Making Her 15th Consecutive Appearance
Cornet will be making a 15th consecutive appearance at the U.S. Open. The former World No. 11 has lost in the first round just four times, and produced her best-ever result at the U.S. Open last year, making a Round of 16 debut but failing to reach the quarters after a tough three-set defeat to Tsvetana Pironkova.
Currently ranked No. 68, the 31-year-old has peaked just in tine for the tournament. She will be contesting for a seventh title in her 14th career final in Chicago later tonight.
Barring a semifinal finish in Berlin, Cornet didn’t have much to celebrate this season. But the Frenchwoman got into a great rhythm in Chicago this week, highlighting her ability to thrive under pressure.
She came back from a set down to beat Ann Li in the first round, powered past a tough Jasmine Paolini in the Round of 16, then overcame a set’s deficit against Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinal and bounced back from a set down a third time in the semifinal against Varvara Garcheva.
Jabeur v Cornet Prediction and Tip
