Diego Schwartzman v Ricardas Berankis Head to Head
11th-seeded Schwartzman has never faced off against Berankis before this.

Could Schwartzman Be An Unwanted Floater?
Number 11 seed Diego Schwartzman has landed in one of the most unpredictable sections in the US Open 2021 draw. The Argentine is an unwanted floater after he was pitted in Daniil Medvedev’s half.
Despite having one of the least effective serves in the men’s game, Schwartzman complements it with his outstanding defenses from the baseline and his supreme athleticism to cover the court with extraordinary agility.
But far from it, Schwartzman has become a perennial danger on hard courts in recent seasons. He is a two-time quarterfinalist at Flushing Meadows and comes to this year’s showpiece event with double-digit wins on the surface.
Schwartzman, however, will need to find his best tennis and fast. Should he excel in defeating Ricardas Berankis on Monday, he has a battle on his hands to advance into the second week. The likes of Kevin Anderson, John Isner, and Casper Ruud are all lurking in his section of the draw.

Berankis On the Ropes of Top 100
Ricardas Berankis hovers just inside the Top 100 of the world rankings. Unless his form improves markedly in the next few weeks, the Lithuanian could exit the centurion club for the first time in two years.
In the grand scheme of things, Berankis should still hold his head high despite his indifferent 2021 season. Only one of his 14 main draw defeats has come against a player ranked lower in the rankings (Jack Sock in Atlanta), and had the tough luck of running into a top-30 opposition multiple times.
But still, he remains a very resilient competitor and particularly on hard courts where he swept the ATP Challenger Tour in 2019 by collecting four titles on the surface.
The US Open has been one of Berankis’ most productive Grand Slams, yielded a total of six wins. Can he improve on his third-round showing from 2020 by upsetting the 11th-seeded Diego Schwartzman?
Schwartzman v Berankis Prediction and Tip
Berankis has warmed up for the US Open by playing a handful of matches on hard courts (nine to be precise). But none of his opposition comes remotely close to match Schwartzman’s level. We expect the Argentine to cruise into the second round.
Tip: Schwartzman to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
