Auger-Aliassime Tipped for Future Slam Success
In the words of John McEnroe – the American great who won multiple Majors – Felix Auger-Aliassime has the tools that will carry him to Grand Slam success in the not-so-distant future. But what if the future turns out in a fortnight’s time?
Auger-Aliassime is one of Canada’s brightest prospects at the upcoming 2021 US Open. Seeded 12th he is just four spots behind his compatriot Denis Shapovalov. The pair have provided genuine interest to Canadian tennis after Milos Raonic’s extended period of dealing with injuries.
The 21-year-old Auger-Aliassime is sitting at a career-high ranking of No. 15 after another tremendous season swotting the tennis tour. He has amassed 28 wins and reached two more ATP tour finals. But he continues to stumble at the last hurdle.
The Montreal native advanced into his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon and is certainly a force to be reckoned with in New York.

Donskoy Outlasts Khan for Main Draw Spot
Evgeny Donskoy, a former World No. 65, preserved his record of reaching the US Open main draw for the ninth successive time.
After his rapid drop in the rankings, Donskoy can no longer afford the luxury of getting automatic main draw spots at Grand Slam events. This week he needed to perform well beyond his current ranking of World No. 152. He beat Ramkumar Ramanathan, Marius Copil, and Zane Khan to earn his berth in Monday’s match.
Against American teenager Khan, Donskoy needed nearly three hours of rivetting tennis and won a third-set tiebreak.
Donskoy won a title as recently as 2019 (Nottingham Challenger), But he has failed to build on that success on the ATP Challenger tour where he spends most of his time painstakingly looking to re-establish himself as a top 100 player.
