Grigor Dimitrov v Sam Riffice Head to Head
Dimitrov and Riffice have never squared off against each other before this.

Dimitrov Uninspiring In Recent Months
Grigor Dimitrov is entrenched in the world’s top 20, but it is fairly obvious he has benefitted greatly from the rankings freeze in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Dimitrov’s form since the Australian summer series came to its conclusion has been dismal, to say the least. He is currently 14-13, with four wins in his last eight tournaments coming to the US Open. Overall, his winning record translates to just about 50%.
Last week, he enjoyed some sort of resurgence at the Cincinnati Masters. As a former champion, Dimitrov extended his good record over Roberto Bautista Agut and then went on to defeat the volatile Kazakh Alexander Bublik. However, he was second-best in the Round of 16 where he lost to Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.
Seeded at a surprisingly high of 15th, the Bulgarian shotmaking machine will open up against a player who not many have heard of prior to the US Open draw.

Sam Riffice Eyes A Debut to Remember
Little known Sam Riffice will be playing in his maiden Grand Slam main draw at his home Slam. Riffice has a world ranking of No. 539 and features predominantly on the lower rungs of the tennis circuit.
The 22-year-old American has a career-high ranking of No. 18 on the junior tour where he has a 67% winning rate (113-56). His wildcard entrant might come as a surprise to many, but his results in recent months have played a huge part to convince the USTA.
Riffice made the semifinals of the Orlando Challenger in June, and while studying at the University of Florida, he became the NCAA singles champion this season.
Riffice’s introduction to Grand Slam tennis is a case of baptism by fire given that he has not played any tour-level match prior to his scheduled first-round match against Dimitrov on Monday.
Dimitrov v Riffice Prediction and Tip
Riffice has been balancing Collegiate tennis and Challenger tennis in recent weeks. But he has been handed a tough Grand Slam welcoming in the form of the former World No. 3. We expect a fairly routine win in the books.
