Hubert Hurkacz v Egor Gerasimov Head to Head

Hurkacz and Gerasimov locked horns in the qualifying rounds of the 2018 US Open. The Pole won in straight sets. And aside from that, they haven’t played each other on tour-level proper.

Hurkacz Nearly-Perfect On US Soil

Hubert Hurkacz’s near-flawless record on US soil should certainly put him in good stead this fortnight. The Pole owns a 12-1 record in these parts, winning titles in Delray and Miami respectively.

His success at the Miami Masters came out of the blue particularly as Hurkacz’s level after Delray dipped considerably. He also reached his first Grand Slam semifinal at this year’s Wimbledon Championships, losing to eventual finalist Matteo Berrettini.

Hurkacz lost his proud unbeaten record in North America after losing to Daniil Medvedev in a breathless quarterfinal at the Toronto Masters, and was then beaten in the Round of 16 when he crossed the border to compete at the Cincinnati Masters.

The 24-year-old ranks ninth in the ATP Race which compiles points earned in 2021 season and will be targeting to do significantly better than last year’s second-round showing.

Gerasimov In Awful Form

It goes without saying that Egor Gerasimov will need the stars to align perfectly for him to record an upset win on Tuesday.

As far as winning is concerned, Gerasimov’s results are close to bankruptcy. He has four wins from a possible 17 matches. And to compound his misery, he hasn’t won successive matches since Montpellier – the indoor hard-court event towards the end of February.

Gerasimov, however, showed some resilience despite losing to Richard Gasquet in two tiebreak sets at last week’s participation at the ATP 250 event in Winston-Salem.

The Belarusian’s ranking has dropped down a few spots (over 15) from his career-high of No. 65, and should be wary of trying to address this slide to prevent him from exiting the Top 100.

Gerasimov has won the first round in each of his last two visits to the US Open, but has a humongous task in his hands if he is to maintain his streak intact.

Hurkacz v Gerasimov Prediction and Tip

Gerasimov is playing like a man whose confidence has been torn to shreds. And there is very little to suggest he will change his fortunes this week. We expect a fairly routine win for Poland’s No.1.

Tip: Hurkacz to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
