Shapovalov Looking To Reverse Downturn Since Wimbledon
Denis Shapovalov has had some strong runs this season, none more than the semi-finals at Wimbledon, losing a tight contest to Novak Djokovic. It was a good run overall on grass for the Canadian who won eight of his eleven matches on the surface this year.
The Canadian was also a finalist on the Geneva clay and he also reached the hard courts in Dubai. However, having been on the tour for a few years now, he still has only one ATP title, i.e. the ATP 250 at Stockholm in 2019.
It has been a poor run for Shapovalov since Wimbledon, with a first round loss at the Swiss Open to Vit Kopriva and then surprising opening losses at both Toronto and Cincinnati to Frances Tiafoe and Benoit Paire respectively.
The Wimbledon semi-finalist will be hoping to rekindle his form sooner rather than later in New York, if he is to have a shot at a good run this fortnight.

Delbonis In Search Of Hard Court Form
It has been a good season for the Argentine veteran with a good run on the clay courts ensuring that he returned to the top 50 in the ATP rankings. The highlights of his run on clay included semi finals in Santiago and Belgrade and the quarter-finals at Rome and Hamburg.
Delbonis also reached the round of 16 at Roland Garros, his best showing at a Grand Slam.
Outside of clay, it has not been quite the same for the Argentine, with a first round loss on the Wimbledon grass, as well as opening round losses at the Cincinnati Masters and at Winston Salem, his only hard court tournaments since Australia in February.
Delbonis has never been past the second round at the US Open and will hope to better that this time around, despite an uphill opener.
Shapovalov v Delbonis Prediction and Tip
While this is an important match for both players, it has more significance for Shapovalov who is yet to record a single win since the Wimbledon semi-final. Expect a good fight from the Argentine, but the courts should suit Shapovalov and we can expect him back on the run with a straight sets win.
Tip: Shapovalov to win in straight sets: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
