Maria Sakkari v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head
Sakkari and Siniakova have played three times before this, and remarkably, all in Grand Slam competitions. Siniakova leads the head-to-head 2-1, winning matches at the Frnech Open and the Australian Open. While the Greek star managed the first win in the series all the way back at Wimbledon 2017.

Maria Sakkari was handed one of the most dangerous unseeded players at this year’s US Open, but she passed a tough test with flying colors.
The Greek needed just 91 minutes to defeat the Ukrainian teenager who sits at a career-high ranking of World No. 55. Kostyuk was wildly inconsistent, particularly on her serve which malfunctioned badly.
The Ukrainian won just about 44% of first-serve points in the match, clearly highlighting Sakkari’s unrelenting pressure and robbing Kostyuk of space and time. The Greek star converted five breakpoints and fired 25 winners and additional eight aces.
Overall, the World No. 18 will be pretty happy with her performance, but she will need to polish up her second serve which teetered well below average (just 38% of second-serve points won).
Sakkari had suffered a dip in form lately. Since making the semifinals of Roland Garros, she did not advance past the Round of 16 at any tournament, losing four times from nine matches.

Siniakova Outsmarts Sevastova
In a match between two of WTA’s improvisers, Katerina Siniakova got the better of Anastasija Sevastova in straight sets. The match lasted four minutes shy of two hours as Siniakova picked up her 21st match win of 2021.
From the outset, the outcome of this match would be dependent on the player who would take charge of baseline rallies and outthink her opponent. But as it appeared, neither player looked comfortable holding serve, and they struggled to find a consistent pattern of play.
Astonishingly, there were eight breaks of serve in the first set – four apiece. And the set would go into a tense tiebreak which saw Siniakova save a set point before winning it. Sevastova’s power and guile began to disintegrate in the second set.
The Latvian was broken at 3-2 in the second set. And crucially Siniakova did not face a single breakpoint on her serve, winning 20 out of 27 points behind her deliveries.
Sakkari v Siniakova Prediction and Tip
Siniakova’s unorthodox style is a nightmare for players who hit big in every shot. But Sakkari is a versatile player, and possesses extraordinary athleticism. The Greek barely has any fitness concerns at tournaments, and she should be favorite to win here in spite of her opponent’s record in their series.
