Iga Swiatek v Fiona Ferro Head to Head
Swiatek beat Ferro in their only previous meeting at the Australian Open this year, winning the third round match in straight sets.

The 2020 French Open champion began her U.S. Open campaign in style, breezing past American qualifier Jamie Loeb in straight sets.
The World No. 8 didn’t face a break point in the match, while she converted two of nine to wrap up the one-hour-and-14-minute contest 6-4, 6-3. She won 79% points on the first serve and 81% on the second, serving eight aces and striking 23 winners.
The 20-year-old, who lost her opening match in Cincinnati, would be happy to have ended a two-match losing streak which began with her second-round upset at the Olympics.
Swiatek has added to her Roland Garros title this year, winning the Adelaide International and the Italian Open crowns. In the Grand Slams, she was a quarterfinalist at the French Open, but could only reach as far as the fourth round at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Ferro Makes a Brisk Start
World No. 74 Fiona Ferro made a brisk start as she needed just 68 minutes to dispatch Japan’s Nao Hibino.
The Frenchwoman who broke her opponent twice in the first and twice in the second set, was broken just once, in the second set, as she closed out the contest 6-1, 6-4. Ferro made just nine unforced errors in the match against Hibino’s 22, while striking 18 winners, one more than her opponent.
The 24-year-old, who made her third round debut at the Australian Open this year, was a semifinalist in Lyon and had two quarterfinal finishes on clay. Other than that she has mostly been quiet this season and will have to come up with a top-notch performance to cause an upset in the second round.
