Andrey Rublev v Frances Tiafoe Head to Head
This will be a first meeting between the two.

Rublev Motors Along
The fifth seed would be disappointed to have dropped the second set against Pedro Martinez, but will be delighted by the way he finished off the match to end the Spaniard’s challenge and advance to the third round of the U.S. Open.
The Russian hit 67 winners and served 18 aces on his way to a 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-1 victory. He had three opportunities to close out the second set but couldn’t convert any of those set points allowing Martinez to draw level. But the World No. 75 couldn’t keep up with the World No. 7’s power and precision for the rest of the match as Rublev turned on the style to race through the next two sets.
On Monday, the 23-year-old had begun his campaign with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over Ivo Karlovic.
Playing in his sixth U.S. Open, Rublev is into the third round for the fourth time. The 2021 Rotterdam Open champion was a quarterfinalist in New York in 2017 and 2020. This year, he made a last eight debut at the Australian Open and a Round of 16 debut at Wimbledon.

Tiafoe Pummels Pella
Tiafoe ended Uruguayan Guido Pella’s challenge in the tournament with a power-packed performance accentuated by his athleticism and energy. There were lots of chest thumps and fist pumps accompanied by frequent roars from the American as he overpowered Pella 6-1, 6-2, 7-6 in an hour and 52 minutes.
The World No. 50, who made it to the fourth round of the tournament last year, faces a tough opponent in Rublev, but if he could bring out the same energy to the third round he could well be headed for a second straight Round of 16 appearance at Flushing Meadows.
On Wednesday, Tiafoe struck 11 aces and crashed 38 winners, while making 25 unforced errors. He covered the court well throughout the match and approached the net 31 times, winning 18 of those points. The 23-year-old broke Pella a total of eight times in the match, and couldn’t save either of the two break points that he faced.
On Monday, Tiafoe had withstood 26 aces and 56 winners from compatriot Christopher Eubanks for a 7-6 (10-8), 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Tiafoe has shown good form of late. He accounted for Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of Wimbledon and reached the Round of 16 at the Canadian Open, defeating home favourite Denis Shapovalov en route. Last week, he knocked out Andy Murray on his way to the Winston-Salem quarterfinals. Rublev maybe the fifth seed but he can’t take the American lightly.
Rublev v Tiafoe Prediction and Tip
Expect this to be a thrilling contest, with both winning at least a set, if not multiple sets.
Rublev, being the seeded player, will be seen as the favourite, but with the crowd behind him, Tiafoe could be a handful. Don’t rule out the possibility of an upset just yet.
Tip: Rublev to win AND Both players to win a set: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
