Iga Swiatek v Anett Kontaveit Head to Head
Swiatek and Kontaveit have been involved in three career, head-to-head meetings, with the Estonian holding a 2-1 lead. Their last meeting came in the third round at Roland-Garros which saw the Pole coming away with a straight-set win.

Swiatek Recovers From a Set Down
Coming into the US Open on the back of a shock, opening-round loss to Tunisian Ons Jabeur at the Cincinnati Masters, Swiatek drew Jamie Loeb of the US in the first round.
However, the current World No.8, who had a phenomenal season on clay, picking up her second career Tour title in Rome and finishing in the quarter-finals at the French Open and the last-16 at the Wimbledon Championships, made short work of the American, winning in straight sets.
The win saw her set up a second-round outing with young Frenchwoman Fiona Ferro. The Pole had far from a plain sailing against her French rival was, in fact, playing catch up as Ferro took the attack to Swiatek and was rewarded with a break of serve.
The Frenchwoman held on to her advantage to claim the first set 6-3. Stunned by her defeat in the opening set, Swiatek came out firing on all cylinders and pipped the Frenchman in the second-set tiebreak to make it all square going into the deciding set.
Raising her level by a fair few notches, the 2020 French Open champion bageled the Frenchwoman in the final set to eventually prevail 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0.
Though she had the measure of Kontaveit in their last head-to-head meeting at the French Open, Swiatek trails the Estonian in career, head-to-head count and would be wary of the World No.28 going into the third-round clash.

Kontaveit Routs Teichmann to Reach Round 3
Kontaveit’s last tournament saw her rising to the winner’s podium and holding aloft the Cleveland Championships title. Coming into the US Open high on belief and a kind of hard-court form that would warrant a strong title challenge, the Estonian drew veteran Australian Samantha Stosur in the first round.
Picking up from where she had left off in Cleveland, a sensational run that saw her post wins over the likes of Czech star Katerina Siniakova and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, Kontaveit routed Stosur 6-3, 6-0 to set up a second-round clash with rising Swiss star Jil Teichmann.
Though her second-round clash was billed as a close affair against an opponent who finished runner-up at the Cincinnati Masters, Kontaveit made it a walk-in-the-park for herself as she powered past the Swiss star in straight sets.
However, she faces a much tougher road to the fourth round against an opponent who, though a greenhorn in the circuit, knows what it takes to win a Grand Slam.
But the Estonian does hold a head-to-head lead over the Pole, which will stand her in good stead going into the clash.
Swiatek v Kontaveit Prediction and Tip
Though their last meeting at Roland-Garros, the second in Grand Slams, ended in defeat for Kontaveit, the Estonian will be itching to get her own back at Swiatek. However, the Pole arguably holds a slight advantage in terms of big-match temperament going into this third-round clash.
