Aryna Sabalenka v Danielle Collins Head to Head
Sabalenka holds a 2-0 lead over Collins, last defeating her in the 2019 Wuhan Open. They have also met a couple of times in the doubles discipline where the Belarusian, not so surprisingly, has maintained her dominance over Collins.

Sabalenka Storms Past Zidansek
Following a first-round hiccup against Nina Stojanovic – a match that went on to three sets – Aryna Sabalenka bounced back in style with a clinical 6-3, 6-1 win over Tamara Zidansek in round two.
The match just lasted for one hour and saw the World No. 2 strike 24 winners, clearly outpacing her 10 unforced errors. Sabalenka also converted four of the five break points while saving her service on two occasions.
The 23-year-old is looking to reach the fourth round for the second time in her US Open history. The 2021 Wimbledon semifinalist has never made it past that stage here and in Collins, she faces a worthy adversary. But considering the splendid season she has enjoyed so far, a run that propelled her to the top of the rankings – she will certainly fancy her chances.
Sabalenka’s exploits of the season include title runs in the WTA Abu Dhabi and Madrid Open and a runner-up feat in the Stuttgart Open. She also won the Australian Open and Berlin Open doubles titles while most recently, she featured in the semis in the WTA Montreal. That said, she did lose to Paula Badosa in the Cincinnati opener, so the precedent is set for Collins to upset.

Collins, in a Menacing Form
27-year-old American Danielle Collins is yet to drop a set at the Flushing Meadows. Following a 6-2, 6-4 win over Carla Suarez Navarro, she moved on to dispatch Kaja Juvan with a similar score.
It has been a resurgent year for the former World No. 23 who returned to the top 30 after winning a couple of WTA titles. She lifted her maiden WTA singles trophy in the Palermo Open in July and followed it with winning the 500 event in the Silicon Valley Classic, defeating Daria Kasatkina in the final.
While her form dipped a bit in the US Open series – third-round in Montreal and first-round retirement in Cincinnati – Collins has done well to rebound in New York with efficient performances.
A semifinalist in this year’s Phillip Island Trophy, Collins has seen her fair share of inconsistencies too. But the fact that she has held her own against several top 10 players like Victoria Azarenka, Simona Halep, Angelique Kerber, and Elina Svitolina tells us that she is more than equipped to take Sabalenka head-on.
Sabalenka v Collins Prediction and Tip
Sabalenka will start as the favourite but there is no guarantee that she will reach the next round. Collins is a strong, experienced opponent and can very well topple the second seed here. Expect an intriguing game of tennis.
