Reilly Opelka v Lloyd Harris Head to Head
Opelka is 1-0 at the ATP level, having won a dramatic three-setter at the Canada Masters earlier this year. Harris had earlier beaten the American in a qualifying round in Shenzhen in 2017.

Opelka Continues to March Forward
In-form Reilly Opelka marched into the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. Yet to drop a set in the tournament, Opelka defeated Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilashvili in the third round on Saturday.
Breaking his opponent five times, Opelka won the two-hour-and-15-minute contest 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, 6-4. On the way, the big American fired 21 aces and 52 winners and won 19 of 26 net points. The only area where Basilashvili fared better was unforced errors; he had 27 of them, 14 fewer than Opelka.
The World No. 24, who has produced some of his biggest results this year, began his campaign with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, 6-4 win over South Korea’s Soonwoo Kwon in the first round. He continued his dominance in the second round, defeating Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 7-6 (7-1), 7-5, 6-4.
Opelka struck 33 aces and 55 winners against Kwon and 31 aces and 61 winners against Musetti, converting two break points in each match, while not getting broken once. But in a deviation from his usual game, Opelka had fewer aces against Basilashvili, while enjoying plenty of service breaks.
Basilashvili was the first to break in the first and second sets, but Opelka responded immediately to draw level in both the sets. There were no further breaks of serve in the first but the American had a total of three in the second. He also got the solitary break in the final set to advance to the Round of 16.

Harris Knocks Out the Seventh Seed
Another player who will be making his fourth round debut in Grand Slams is Lloyd Harris, who knocked out a second seeded player in the week to enter the Round of 16.
Having begun his U.S. Open challenge with a five-set opening round win over Olympic silver medallist and 25th seed Karen Khachanov, the South African dispatched seventh seed Denis Shapovalov in the third round on Saturday. He didn’t allow the 10th seed to dictate terms at any point of the contest, winning the two-hour-and-12-minute battle 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
Harris got the only break of the first set and two in each of second and third despite conceding the first break in each of the latter two. He had a total of 27 winners and 23 unforced errors compared to Shapovalov’s 24 winners and 40 unforced errors. Sandwiched between the two wins against seeded players was a straight sets win over world No. 178 Ernesto Escobedo. the 46th ranked Harris eased past the American 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.
A finalist in Dubai this year, Harris has been in decent form of late, scoring one of his biggest wins against Rafael Nadal en route the quarterfinals in Washington. He also made it to the Round of 16 in Canada but was edged out by his fourth round opponent in the second and third set tiebreaks.
Opelka v Harris Prediction and Tip
It was an edge-of-the-seat affair the last time they played against each other. Neither could dominate and in the end it was just a couple of points that mattered the most. Expect a similar pattern to the contest this time around with both bringing out their A-games. Harris will be a slight favourite though, as he had better stats last time around, and also because he accounted for two seeded players en route to the fourth round, including the dangerous Shapovalov.
