Bianca Andreescu v Maria Sakkari Head to Head
In their one and only encounter on the WTA Tour, Andreescu emerged as the winner with a three-set win over Sakkari in the 2021 Miami Open semifinal.

World No. 18 Maria Sakkari continues to impress in the US Open as she defeated the number 10 seed Petra Kvitova 6-4, 6-3.
The Greek needed just an hour and 22 minutes to take the match although, Kvitova’s 34 unnecessary errors may have made the job easier for her. With this, Sakkari has reached the fourth round at the Flushing Meadows for the second consecutive season but has never made it past this stage in history yet.
A semifinalist in this year’s French Open, it has been a defining season for the 26-year-old who cracked the top 20 for the first time in her career. She boasts a decent pedigree in hard-court events with back to back semifinal runs in WTA Abu Dhabi and Grampians Trophy attesting to her form. Sakkari later reached the same stage in the Miami Open as well, upsetting Naomi Osaka en route.
Her stint in the US Open tune-up events wasn’t that great as she lost early in the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open. However, she is yet to drop a set in New York and is certainly brimming with confidence at the moment.

Andreescu Routs Minnen
21-year-old Bianca Andreescu reached the fourth-round in the US Open on the back of a 6-1, 6-2 win over Greet Minnen. The Canadian needed just 68 minutes to seal the victory with 21 winners and a 75% first service win rate.
Heading into the final major of the season, the World No. 7 was struggling with form a great deal. She lost her opening-round bout in Cincinnati while in Montreal, she incurred a third-round defeat to Ons Jabeur.
While Andreescu’s form was just as bad on grass, she did enjoy a great run at the start of the year. The 2019 US Open champion reached the semis in the Phillip Island Trophy and later, the final at the Miami Open where she fell to Ashleigh Barty.
The number six seed may lack the experience at the moment but over the last couple of seasons, she has made ripples on the WTA Tour and established herself as a formidable opponent. With a bunch of top 10 wins already to her name, Andreescu will fancy her chances of reaching the quarters.
Andreescu v Sakkari Prediction and Tip
Andreescu will start as the odds-on favourite but Sakkari’s form in New York puts her in strong contention as well.
Expect a good game of tennis where the Canadian should come out on top in three sets.
