Fiona Ferro v Bernarda Pera Head to Head
Before this, Ferro and Pera have played each other on two occasions. The American won their first-ever meeting in 2012 at the Solin ITF, but Ferro was the victor in their meeting at tour-level in Lausanne two years ago. Both matches were on clay.

Ferro Usurped As Top-Ranked Frenchwoman
Fiona Ferro did not return to Palermo to defend her crown from last season, and instead elected to play in Lausanne where incidentally she was the defending champion from the 2019 edition.
Ferro, however, managed to hit a roadblock in the quarterfinals in the form of countrywoman Clara Burel. Her failure to add any points in Switzerland meant that she fell a few spots in the rankings and consequently was overtaken as France’s top-ranked female player.
From a career-high ranking of world no. 39 less than a year ago, Ferro is in danger of losing more ground inside the top 100 unless she can find her form very quickly before the season reaches its climax. She nearly did so at the US Open where she came very close to staging an upset over Iga Swiatek.
The 24-year-old led the Pole by a set and a break in their second-round encounter but complacency kicked in and she began spraying far too many errors to let Swiatek off the hook.

Pera Beaten By Zidansek At US Open
It is uncommon for a higher-ranked player to come into a match as an underdog. But such was the case at the US Open when Tamara Zidansek faced off against Bernarda Pera.
Pera started as the favorite against the French Open semifinalist. To the oddsmakers, this felt like an opportune moment for Pera to reach the second round at her home Slam for just the third time. Plus, Zidansek’s counter punching skills are just not as effective on fast hard courts as they are on clay.
But the American lefty succumbed to a close straight-set defeat, despite saving five match points in the second set. Pera’s form in doubles this season outpaces that in singles. Alongside her partner Magda Linette, they reached the semifinals at the French Open, and most recently in Montreal.
However, the world no. 85 comes into this match on the back of 1-5 record.
Ferro v Pera Prediction and Tip
This should be a close one, particularly as both players have enjoyed reasonable success away from hard courts. However, the onus is on Ferro who fared marginally better on the surface in recent weeks.
Tip: Ferro to win: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
