Varvara Gracheva v Mandy Minella Head to Head
Minella won their only meeting on the clay court of Lausanne this year, beating the Russian in straight sets.

Gracheva’s Recent Form Has Been Solid
A semifinalist in Chicago, Gracheva matched her previous best at the U.S. Open, reaching the third round for a second consecutive year.
The World No. 82 fought back from a set down to oust Spain’s Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in the first round and then knocked out Paula Badosa in the second round to reach the Round of 32, but just like 2020 she fell at that stage, going down to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets.
The 21-year-old, who also reached the third round at Roland Garros this year, defeated Tamara Zidansek and Marta Kostyuk en route her first tour-level semifinal in Chicago, but fell to Alize Cornet despite takin the first set against the Frenchwoman.
Overall, Gracheva is 17-22 this season across levels, which also includes a semifinal appearance at the WTA 125 in Saint Malo.

Will it be 12th Time Lucky for Minella?
She is ranked 231st in the world and is 7-12 from all matches, including qualifiers this season. However, despite those disappointing numbers, she will take heart from the fact that she outplayed Gracheva in Lausanne in July. But that win came on clay, the surface where the 35-year-old has had the most success over her career.
The Luxembourg player will be featuring in the main draw of her home tournament for a 12th time in her career. Interestingly she has lost all her previous 11 first-round matches in the tournament.
Most of Minella’s wins this year have come at the qualifying or ITF levels. The win over Gracheva remains her only main draw win on the tour this year. Can she do it again?
Gracheva v Minella Prediction and Tip
Gracheva’s current form on hard court gives her the edge. Minella hasn’t had a lot to cheer on the surface this year and may find the going tough against the Russian. Expect Gracheva to advance to the next round.
Tip: Gracheva to win in straight sets: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
