Ludmilla Samsonova v Oceane Dodin Head to Head

Samsonova Storms into the Second Round
The World No. 48 needed just an hour and 16 minutes to knock out Miasaki Doi in the first round in Luxembourg on Monday.
Winning 84% points on the back of her first serve and converting five of seven break points, the Russian powered past the Japanese player with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
The 22-year-old, who had a terrific grass-court season, winning her maiden WTA title in Berlin and reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon on debut, improved her season record to 31-18, including qualifiers and lower level tournaments.
The Russian, who first made an impression at the Miami Open this year by reaching the third round as a qualifier, was also a qualifier in Berlin, where she knocked out five top 50 players in a row, including the veteran Victoria Azarenka in the semifinal and Belinda Bencic in the final.
Ranked 127 at the end of last year, Samsonova broke into the top 50 this week, reaching a career-high of No. 48. She will be looking to reach a second tour-level quarterfinal this season on Wednesday.

Dodin Battles Past Zakharova
Oceane Dodin fought back from a set down to rally past Russia’s Anastasia Zakharova in the first round on Monday.
Both players broke each other thrice in the first set, before Zakharova edged out the Frenchwoman in an equally close tiebreak.
The second set started with three consecutive break of serves, with Dodin getting two of them and then holding on to that advantage till the end of the set. She continued her dominance in the third, racing to a 5-2 lead, but couldn’t serve out the set with Zakharova saving two match points and pulling a break back to stay in the contest. But not for long, as Dodin broke back immediately to close out the two-hour-and-25-minute contest 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-3.
Dodin, who has mostly featured in the qualifiers and the lower level events this year, reached the semifinals in Pallermo in what was her most significant performance this year. Most recently, the World No. 95 qualified for the Canadian Open and then won the first round against Karolina Muchova, before falling in the next.
It will be interesting to see if the hard-hitting right-hander can survive another round.
Samsonova v Dodin Prediction and Tip
Dodin found the going tough against the World No. 228 and she will find it even tougher against the No. 48. Expect the Russian to win this contest in straight sets.
