Kaja Juvan v Aleksandra Krunic Head to Head
Juvan won their only meeting in Bol, Croatia two years ago. The Slovenian won the quarterfinal match in straight sets.

Juvan Stuns the Top Seed
Local favourite Kaja Juvan got her campaign off to a great start with a shock win over top seed Petra Martic in the first round on Tuesday.
The 103rd-ranked Juvan was the first to break in the opening set to take a 3-1 lead and then saved four break points in the next game, but couldn’t save a fifth to throw away the advantage. She dominated the next game though, to break for a second time in the set and then held on to the lead to go one set up.
Juvan continued to dominate the World No. 42 in the second, getting the only break of the set in the fifth game and wrapping up the contest with her only ace of the match for a 6-3, 6-4 win in an hour and 26 minutes.
With the win, the 20-year-old Slovenian improved to 16-15 across levels this season. She has performed particularly well at the Grand Slams this year, reaching the third rounds of the Australian Open and Wimbledon for the first time in her career and matching her previous best at the U.S. Open by making it to the second round.
While she got a bit lucky in Melbourne with Johanna Konta pulling out of the first round contest, it was a high-quality performance that helped her eliminate Belinda Bencic in the opening round at Wimbledon.
Better known for her exploits on clay at the ITF level, it will be interesting to see if she can reach a first quarterfinal this season (at any level) with a win on Wednesday.

Krunic Knocks Out Local Hope
World No. 176 Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia knocked out local hope Ziva Falkner in the first round on Tuesday.
Broken once in the match, Krunic converted 5 of 7 break points on her way to a 6-3, 6-1 win in an hour and 15 minutes.
The Serbian has entered the main draw through the qualifiers. She defeated Slovenia’s Tina Cvetkovic 6-1, 6-1 in the first qualifying round and rallied from a set down to oust Switzerland’s Susan Bandecchi 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the second qualifier.
The 28-year-old had reached the semifinal of the WTA 250 in Cluj-Napoca this year. Then-ranked 268 in the world, Krunic beat the likes of Ana Bogdan and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova on her way to the final four before falling to Andrea Petkovic.
She was also a finalist at an ITF tournament in Czech Republic earlier this year and will be hoping to reach another quarterfinal this season.
Juvan v Krunic Prediction and Tip
Juvan will be high on confidence after toppling the top seed. Expect the home favourite to keep the momentum going in the next round and reach a first quarterfinal of the season.
