Alexei Popyrin v Pedro Martinez Head to Head
Popyrin and Martinez have never played each other before this.

Popyrin Won His Last Indoors Event
Alexei Popyrin won his maiden ATP tour title on the indoor hard courts of Singapore earlier this season, defying the odds against Marin Cilic and then Alexander Bublik in the final. That success is certainly the first of many for a man who is only 22, and alongside De Minaur represents the golden age of Australian tennis.
Popyrin made an even greater impact outside hard courts. He reached the Round of 16 of the Madrid Masters as a qualifier, losing to Rafael Nadal. And considering that clay is not his best that was a respectable showing for the big-hitting Aussie.
The 22-year-old had the misfortune of drawing the 13-time champion Nadal in the first round of the French Open, and he suffered an expected defeat in Paris. An off-color Popyrin had a rough time thereafter, winning a single match in four grass-court tournaments.
But with a change in surface, Popyrin rediscovered that winning feeling in North America. He picked up wins over Radu Albot and Grigor Dimitrov en route to the third round of the US Open. But he suffered a chastening loss to Dan Evans in a match where he squandered a two-set lead.

Martinez Wins First Title of 2021 In Seville
Pedro Martinez was the biggest mover from the latest ATP rankings, jumping from No. 75 to a career-high ranking of World No. 59. Two months ago, Martinez was outside the Top 100, but a run to his first ATP final in Kitzbuhel hauled him to inside the centurion club.
And his latest success at the Sevilla Challenger a week ago, in which he defeated Roberto Carballes Baena in an all-Spanish final, Martinez has soared to new heights.
The 24-year-old has now collected his third ATP Challenger title, and at this rate, he will soon be a regular at the main ATP tour events. He is at an impressive 31-20 record for the season.
Martinez’s most recent hard court tournament was at the US Open, and it was certainly an eventful one. He fought back from a two-set deficit in the first round to beat James Duckworth in five sets. The Spanish baseliner will open up his Metz campaign against another Aussie in the form of Popyrin.
Popyrin v Martinez Prediction and Tip
Aside from winning more matches than his opponent on hard courts, Popyrin has a vast toolbox in his arsenal on a fast indoor hard court. Expect this to be a very straightforward opener for the Australian.
Tip: Popyrin to win AND over 19.5 games: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
