Caroline Garcia v Anastasia Potapova Head to Head
There has been just one previous meeting between these two and Garcia had won that 2019 Tianjin Open match in straight sets.

Garcia Form Remains a Concern
Since making it to the semifinal at Lausanne Open, Garcia has featured in six tournaments and in not one has she managed to win successive main draw matches.
A first round loss at the Tokyo Olympics was followed by four second round defeats but even worse was to follow at Cincinnati Open, where Garcia lost her opener.
Her last appearance came at US Open where the Frenchwoman struggled to get past Harriet Dart in her opener before getting crushed 6-1, 6-4 by Elena Rybakina in the second round.
Garcia now enters a tournament she has never participated in before this, having played two and won and lost one apiece indoors this year. Her first round opponent might be a qualifier but could give her a few pain-points.

Potapova Struggling Since Birmingham
Wins over Nina Stojanovic and Kristina Mladenovic on the grass courts of Birmingham in June should have given Potapova a lot of confidence but since then the Russian has won just one main draw match.
That came as a Montreal qualifier where she shocked Shelby Rogers in her opener before having to retire from her second round against Cori Gauff.
Since then, a qualifying defeat in Chicago and first round losses at US Open and Luxembourg Open have punctuated what has otherwise also not been one of Potapova’s best seasons.
She did make it to round three at Australian Open but all that seems like distant memory for Potapova. What she would like to do is take her overall indoor record – spread across qualifiers and ITF circuit – of 19-11 with a pinch of confidence and try and trouble an opponent who is struggling for form.
Garcia v Potapova Prediction and Tip
Interestingly Potapova starts off a favourite in a match where both players enter without too much form. Backing Garcia at 6/5 to edge this contest.
