Petra Kvitova v Anastasia Potapova Head to Head
The two players have never met before on the WTA Tour.

Kvitova Seeking Reprieve in Ostrava
Petra Kvitova may be ranked World No. 10 at the moment but the season she has had may not entirely be reflective of that.
Having started the year on a promising note by winning her first singles title since April 2019 in Qatar, she struggled to main the same rhythm in the subsequent events. She lost in the fourth round in the Miami Open and reached as far as the quarters in WTA Stuttgart and Madrid Open.
The same has been the case in recent weeks as well. The Czech’s last stint was at the Flushing Meadows where she lost to Maria Sakkar in round three; before that, she lost to Angelique Kerber in the Cincinnati Open.
Here in Ostrava, Kvitova is starting as the second seed with a bye into the second round. As former World No. 2 and winner of 28 WTA singles trophies, she obviously has a rich pedigree – and will fancy her chances of a deep run in her native tournament.

Potapova Stuns Garcia
20-year-old Anastasia Potapova will be pleased with her performance so far in the J&T Banka Open. Starting as a qualifier, she reached the main draw after upsetting Stefanie Voegele and qualifying top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.
In the opener, she defeated the French wildcard, former World No. 4 Caroline Garcia 6-2, 7-6(8) to post one of her better results in the recent weeks. Potapova arrived in Ostrava on the back of a four-match losing streak spanning across Montreal, Chicago, New York, and Luxembourg. Following the litany of those early-round exits, the youngster will look to build on this recent success.
That said, consistency and big plays haven’t been a huge part of Potapova’s ongoing season. Except for the quarterfinal run in WTA Dubai (defeating Madison Keys and Belinda Bencic en route), she hasn’t made been particularly impressive this year.
That said, the two-time WTA Tour-level event finalist has proven in the past that she is a worthy adversary. She can fight and make Kvitova work for the win.
Kvitova v Potapova Prediction and Tip
Kvitova will start as the favourite owing to her massive experience and all things considered, she should reach the next round.
