Andy Murray v Vasek Pospisil Head to Head
There have been five previous matches between these two and Murray leads Pospisil 4-1. Interestingly, Murray had raked up four wins in a row to kick things off before Pospisil won his first at the 2017 Indian Wells Masters.
This will be their first meeting in four years.

Having practiced indoors at the Rennes Challenger in the lead-up to this competition, Murray was drawn a stiff first round opposition in the form of Ugo Humbert.
And when the Brit lost the first set of that opener, the writing looked to be on the wall for Murray.
However, Murray showed his fight of old when he came back to register a three-set win in two hours and 25 minutes to reach round two of the competition. He won 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, losing his serve just once in the entire match despite facing seven break-points.
This was also Murray’s first main draw win since his opening victory at Winston-Salem following which he had fallen in the second round there to Frances Tiafoe and to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the US Open opener.
He now has a chance to win back to back matches, a rare feat having done that just once before this in 2021.

Pospisil Races Past Barrere
Pospisil hasn’t had the best of seasons so far but in his first round match here, he showed no mercy to Barrere as he raced past his French opponent in straight sets.
The Canadian registered a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Barrere, needing only an hour and 26 minutes to make it just his seventh win of the season. Pospisil has also lost 12 matches including a few at the qualifying stage of competitions.
All that Pospisil needed in the match were two breaks of serves, once in each of the sets and he was through. In return, he did face six break-points but managed to save them all, also blasting 11 aces in the process.
And against a player who has struggled with his fitness and having got an extra day’s rest, Pospisil might fancy his chances to win back to back matches for just the second time this season.
Murray v Pospisil Prediction and Tip
This could be a solid battle and one where either player could scoop it. Murray might hold the edge in terms of quality but having played a three-setter only yesterday could even things out. Expect a three-setter here.
