Hubert Hurkacz v Andy Murray Head to Head
They met for the first time last month in Cincinnati with Hurkacz beating Murray in straight sets.

Hurkacz Eases into the Quarters
Top seed Hubert Hurkacz got off to flying start, with a straight sets win over France’s Lucas Pouile in the second round on Thursday.
The World No. 13, playing for the first time since his shock second round defeat to Andreas Seppi at the U.S. Open, didn’t face a single break point against Pouille, needing just 69 minutes to beat the Frenchman 6-2, 6-3.
The Pole dropped just 13 points on his serve in the entire match and had 10 break point opportunities, capitalising on three of those chances.
Hurkacz, who prefers playing on hard courts, has won all three of his career titles on the surface. He won the first of those at Winston-Salem in 2019 and two this year, at Delray Beach and Miami. The clay season sucked the momentum out of his game, but he returned to prominence at Wimbledon, reaching his first major semifinal before going down to Matteo Berrettini.
Overall the 24-year-old is 26-16 this season and 20-9 on hard courts. Playing in Metz for the second time, Hurkacz will be looking to reach a fourth semifinal of the season.

Murray Into The First Quarterfinal in Two Years
Former World No. 1 Andy Murray will be playing in an ATP quarterfinal for the first time in two years after the Scot defeated Canada’s Vasek Pospisil 6-3, 6-3 in the second round on Thursday.
Playing in Metz for the first time since finishing runner-up in 2007, Murray had begun his campaign with a come-from-behind win over sixth seed Ugo Humbert on Tuesday. While he needed two hours and 23 minutes to beat the Frenchman 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, he needed just an hour and 25 minutes to dispatch the Canadian on Thursday.
Murray, who had 18 aces in the first round, had just six against Pospisil. He, however, won 73% of his service points and 47% return points in the match, breaking the Canadian four times, while failing to save the lone break point that he faced in the entire match.
The last time Murray reached an ATP quarterfinal it was in Antwerp in 2019. The current World No. 113 went on to beat Stan Wawrinka in the final to lift his 46th title.
The win improved him to 8-7 this season. He will be looking to avenge his Cincinnati defeat to Hurkacz and end a two-year semifinal drought.
Hurkacz v Murray Prediction and Tip
Last month’s meeting between the two was a close affair. Although Hurkacz won in straight sets, he needed an hour and 43 minutes to get that victory. Murray by his own admission has improved considerably and will be hoping to keep the momentum going. But in the end expect the Pole to come out on top and reach the final four.
