Miomir Kecmanovic v Adrian Andreev Head to Head

Kecmanovic and Andreev have not had a head-to-head meeting till date. While the Serbian is an experience campaigner at this level, the Bulgarian is still finding his feet in professional men’s tennis. However, that wouldn’t take away from the spice in their first-ever head-to-head clash.

Kecmanovic Coming off Second Round Loss in Astana

Suffering a first-round ouster at the US Open,  Kecmanovic came into the Astana Open in the hope of returning to winning ways.

The 60th-ranked Serbian did open his campaign with a facile win over Spaniard Fernando Verdasco. The comprehensive 6-4, 6-2 victory saw him set up a second-round outing with  home favorite Alexander Bublik.

Against Bublik in the second round, Kecmanovic seemed to be on course for another commanding win after taking the opening set 6-2 However, just when he was poised to seize on his momentum and gun for victory, the Serbian lost his way and ceded ground to his opponent.

Sensing a drop in his rival’s game, Bublik, roared on by a partisan crowd, fought back to win the second set and take the match to a decider.

With the momentum with him, Bublik played the percentages better in the deciding set and cashed in on a break of serve to close out a deserving victory in three sets.

Kecmanovic would have redemption in his sights as he opens his Sofia campaign against unheralded but promising Bulgarian Adrian Andreev on Monday.

While he wouldn’t know much about a rival who has largely tested himself in the Challenger circuit before this event, the seasoned Serbian would be wary of the nerveless zeal of his rival and the fearless approach that he will bring into his tennis, going into this first-round clash.

Andreev Went Down Early in Last Challenger Event

Still in the early days of his professional tennis career, Andreev would have nothing to lose and everything to play for  as he opens his Sofia campaign against a more fancied and accomplished opponent in Miomir Kecmanovic.

The 20-year-old Bulgarian lad failed to clear the qualifying hurdles at his last Challenger event in Istanbul and finished in the last 16 in the event prior at Seville, Spain.

However, with the home crowd behind him, young Andreev, currently lying at a faraway 319th place in singles, would fancy punching above his weight and playing out of his skin to take down a superior-ranked opponent.

But then he should be under no illusion that playing the seasoned Serbian represents a huge step-up for him, a trial by fire, no less, and he would have to be at his very best to get the result in his favor.

Kecmanovic v Andreev Prediction and Tip

While it may seem a lopsided contest in favor of Kecmanovic if one reads too much into his superior ranking and experience, Andreev will go into this first-round clash free from the burden of expectations and will throw everything he has at the Serbian in the hope of an upset.
