Jessica Pegula v Andrea Petkovic Head to Head
Pegula and her German opponent Petkovic have been involved in two head-to-head clashes till date and are tied at 1-1. Their last meeting came at the 2019 Prague Open, with the American winning in three sets.

Pegula Breezes Past Frech
Coming into the ongoing Chicago Open on the back of a third-round finish at the US Open, Pegula drew unheralded Magdalena Frech of Poland in the opening round.
Shrugging off her tame straight-set defeat of Belinda Bencic in round 3 of the US Open, the American produced a clinical performance to storm past the opponent.
In fact, such was the extent of her dominance against the Pole that Frech couldn’t win a single game in the second set after going down in 3-6 in the first.
The American wrapped up proceedings before the Pole could even realize what had hit her. However, Pegula would meet her match in Wednesday’s second-round clash against 64th-ranked German Andrea Petkovic.
The head-to-head record has the two currently deadlocked at one win apiece, which goes to show how close the matches are whenever the two turn out against each other.
It will be on different this time out as both Pegula and Petkovic will seek to get the better of each other in the quest of going deeper in the tournament.
However, playing before the home crowd and her win in their last head-to-head fixture will give the American a good bit of confidence and belief going into Wednesday’s clash.

Petkovic Downs Govortsova
She wasn’t expected to go far in the US Open after failing to seal qualification for the main draw of the Cincinnati Masters. However, Petkovic did spare herself the ignominy of going out in the opening round.
Drawing Irina-Camelia Begu in the first round, the 64th-ranked German fought off a spirited challenge from the Romanian to come through in straight sets.
However, up against two-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza in her next, Petkovic went down in straight sets to crash out of the tournament.
In her first Tour event since the US Open ouster, the German will have eyes on the title but faces a tough opening-round hurdle in the form of Pegula.
Having lost her last head-to-head battle against the American, she will be keen on revenge. However, purely on the evidence of the dominant nature of her win in the first round, she will it difficult going past Pegula.
Pegula v Petkovic Prediction and Tip
The head-to-head record between Pegula and Petkovic makes it nigh impossible to call this second-round tie in favor of either player. However, home support will give the American a slight advantage going into this clash.
