This will be the first ever match between both players on the tour.

Ruud Prevails Against Sonego
Casper Ruud, who has reached a career-high ranking of 1o, has won four titles this year, all on clay. Since Wimbledon, the Norwegian went on a winning spree, winning three consecutive titles at the Swedish Open, Swiss Open and the Austrian Open.
What was more heartening for Ruud was be that he has also hit some good form on the North American hard courts in recent times. He was a quarterfinalist in Toronto and repeated the fate the following week in Cincinnati defeating Reilly Opelka and Diego Schwartzman along the way.
However, it was a disappointing US Open for him with a second round loss against Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp who in turn went on to make the final eight.
After a resounding win on the hard courts of the Laver Cup defeating Opelka, Ruud was up against veteran Andy Murray in the second round here at the San Diego Open. Ruud hit some good form but the gritty Briton did not go down without a fight as the Norwegian won a well contested match 7-5,6-4, giving plenty for Murray to speak well off in his post match interview.
The Norwegian faced Lorenzo Sonego in the final eight, with the Italian having been in good touch coming off straight set wins against Nikoloz Basilashvili and Sebastian Korda.
However, Ruud continued his good form putting up a clinical display and raced through the first set 6-1. Sonego matched Ruud better in the second set and put on a good display but was unable to convert crucial break points, and once Ruud broke the Italian, the match was all but over.
The second seed prevailed 6-1,6-4 for a straight sets win and a spot in the final four here in San Diego.
Dimitrov Registers Strong Victory Against Karatsev
The 30-year-old Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who reached three consecutive quarterfinals at the start of the season, all on hard courts, including the Australian Open, has since found the going difficult on clay and grass, and is now looking to salvage the up-and-down season with another deep run.
Dimitrov came into the tournament with a 4-6 record from the last 10 matches, which went back to his first-round exit from Roland Garros.
The Bulgarian got off to a good start this week as he outlasted Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics in the first round with a decisive 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 win. Fortune favored Dimitrov as rising Canadian and world number 12 Felix Auger-Aliassime pulled out of their second round match with an upper leg injury, leaving the Bulgarian to play little know August Holmgren from Denmark.
Dimitrov prevailed dropping two games against Holmgren and set up a tight back and forth encounter against Russia’s Aslan Karatsev. After an early exchange of breaks in the third set, the former world number three upped the ante and prevailed 6-2 in the decider and setting up a semi-final encounter against Casper Ruud on Saturday.
Ruud v Dimitrov Prediction and Tip
Ruud starts as a slight favorite but it will be down to the better player on the bigger points on the given day. Expect Ruud to outlast in-form Dimitrov in a tight three-setter.
