Sinner Knocks Out Krajinovic
Defending champion Jannik Sinner marched into a fourth final of the season with a straight sets win over Serbia’s Filip Krajinovic in the semifinal of the Sofia Open on Saturday.
Sinner, who hasn’t dropped a set in the week, continued the trend in the semifinal, beating Krajonovic 6-3, 7-5 in an hour and 47 minutes. The win improved Sinner to 8-0 in Sofia, a streak that began last year when he went all the way to win the title beating Vasek Pospisil in the final.
The first set saw Sinner get two breaks of serve against one of Krajinovic, but in the second, it was the Serb who started off brightly going 5-2 up, but he failed to close out the set as the Italian fought back, winning the next five games in a row to clinch the contest.
The World No. 14 had begun the tournament with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) Round of 16 victory over Egor Gerasimov and then went on to beat James Duckworth 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 in the quarterfinal.
It’s been a breakthrough year for the 20-year-old Italian, who claimed the Melbourne-1 and Washington titles and also finished runner-up at the Miami Open. A solid player on both hard and clay surfaces, Sinner is 26-9 on hard courts and 36-17 overall this year.

Monfils Breezes Past Giron
Gael Monfils is back in the final of an ATP tournament for the first time since winning the Rotterdam title in February last year.
A 10-time winner from 31 ATP finals, the 35-year-old needed just 64 minutes to outclass the United States’ Marcos Giron in the semifinal on Saturday.
Winning 82% points on his first delivery, Monfils dropped just 12 points on his serve in the entire match, breezing past Giron 7-5, 6-0.
Monfils had a torrid start to the season, and was 3-10 by the end of Tokyo Olympics. However, he struck form in North America, reaching the quarterfinals of the Canadian Open, the Round of 16 in Cincinnati and the Round of 32 of the U.S. Open, winning two matches in each of the competitions before reaching the semifinals of the Moselle Open last week.
With the win on Saturday, the Frenchman has now made it to an ATP final for 17 consecutive years.
His road to the finals included a walkover against Ilya Ivashka in the round of 16 and a 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-2) win over third seed Alex de Minaur.
