Angelique Kerber v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head
Kerber and Siniakova have been involved in as many as six career, head-to-head meetings, with the former holding a commanding 5-1 lead over the latter. Their last meeting came in the final of the inaugural Bad Homburg grass court championship this year, with the German cruising home in straight sets.

Kerber Fell to Teichmann in Ostrava Opener
Taking a blazing run of form into the Ostrava Open after lifting the inaugural Bad Homburg grass court title and following it up with a semifinal finish at the Wimbledon championships and marking a seamless transition to hard courts with a run to the last-four at the Cincinnati Masters and a last-16 finish at the US Open, Kerber drew Jil Teichmann of Switzerland in her tournament opener.
However, the three-time Grand Slam champion failed to replicate the form that took her to some strong finishes at recent events, going down in straight sets to crash out of the tournament.
Playing close to the level that almost lifted to a maiden Cincinnati Masters title this year, Teichmann trounced the seasoned German in the opening set and repeated the dose in the second to eventually cruise home 6-2, 6-3.
With the wounds from that defeat still raw, the canny and crafty German will look for a quick turnaround in her fortunes as she opens her Indian Wells campaign against big-hitting Czech star Katerina Siniakova on Saturday.
While the 5-1 lead that she holds over the Czech in career head-to-head battles will give the German a lot of confidence going into Saturday’s clash, the match would mark a fresh start for both players and past performances will not guarantee success for Kerber and neither will it be an excuse for complacency creeping into her being.

Siniakova Fights Past Clijsters
Coming into the Indian Wells Masters on the back of a stunningly unexpected opening-round loss at Ostrava to fellow countrywoman Teresa Martincova, Siniakova faced up against six-time Grand Slam champion Kim Clijsters in the opening round.
Currently 53rd in singles, Siniakova seemed to have a firm hold of the match after racing to a 6-1 win in the opening set. However, the Belgian superstar, who came out of retirement with a renewed appetite for success, fought back as she did on numerous occasions in her illustrious career, to take the match to a decider.
But Siniakova had the last laugh as she regained her composure and bearings to eventually get over the line in three sets. The final score line stood 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 in the Czech’s favor.
However, between Siniakova and a place in the third round stands another former Grand Slam champion and current World No.15 Angelique Kerber. The German has racked up more wins than losses this season and will be the odds-on favorite going into this tie.
But Siniakova’s opening-round victory over Clijsters will also give her the belief of a similar result against the German.
Kerber v Siniakova Prediction and Tip
While ranking and recent run of results makes Kerber an obvious favorite going into this contest, Siniakova, with some big scalps against her namee, does know a thing or two about taking down top rivals.
