Karolina Pliskova v Magdalena Frech Head to Head
World No. 3 Pliskova has not faced off against Magdalena Frech before this.

Pliskova Qualifier For WTA Finals
With a new home for the 2021 season, Karolina Pliskova has punched her ticket at the year-end finale which will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is the fourth player to secure her place at the WTA Finals in 2021, and it will be her fifth straight appearance at the championships.
Pliskova has been in fine form this season despite suffering a wobble during the early part of 2021. She went 6-6 at the start and fell out of the world’s top 10 for the first time since 2016. At 29, it was easy for Pliskova to entertain the possibility of her early decline.
But Czech never lost her self belief and drive, and bounced back spectacularly during the clay-court and grass-court seasons. She reached her first final of the season in Rome and also finished runner-up to World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty at Wimbledon.
Pliskova is yet to lay her hands on a WTA title this campaign, but that doesn’t tarnish her efforts for hauling herself to become World No. 3 once again. There is a very good chance the Czech might land the big prize at the end of this fortnight.
The two-time semifinalist opens up against a qualifier.

Frech Defeats To Zheng
Poland’s Magdalena Frech is into the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in her tournament debut. Frech, who eased past Lizette Cabrera and Rebecca Marino in qualifying, scored her third successive win at the desert to book a meeting against the top seed, Pliskova.
Frech defeated Saisai Zheng in straight sets, winning 6-1 6-4 in 87 minutes. The Pole romped to take the first set in 32 minutes, breaking Zheng’s serve twice in the first set.
An early break in the second set would set the tone for the World No. 106 to collect just her fifth win at tour level in 2021. Overall, Frech averaged good serving numbers, but she would certainly a face better and aggressive returned in Pliskova.
But with doubts creeping in about Pliskova’s wrist injury ahead of her first outing, could the 23-year-old produce the shock of the tournament?
Pliskova v Frech Prediction and Tip
Pliskova hasn’t played since the US Open, electing to sit out her home tournament in Ostrava due to a wrist injury. Assuming she doesn’t have any niggling concerns, we don’t envisage any drama in this one.
Tip: Pliskova to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
