Iga Swiatek v Veronika Kudermetova Head to Head

Swiatek holds a 1-0 lead over Kudermetova, defeating the Russian in 2020 US Open first round with 6-3, 6-3.

Swiatek, a Top 5 Player

In what has been a career-defining year for the 20-year-old Polish, Iga Swiatek has scaled heights that most pros spend their time chasing. Currently ranked World No. 4 – her best singles ranking yet, Swiatek looks primed to keep up the tempo and move up further in the rankings.

Seeded number two in the Indian Wells Open, she started her campaign in round two with a clinical 6-1, 6-3 win over Petra Martic. The youngster was the superior player in every regard, needing just an hour and 13 minutes to reach the third round.

She arrived in California after a string of impressive results in the US Open and WTA Ostrava, reaching the fourth-round and semifinal respectively. She enjoyed a similar run in other majors too, reaching the fourth round in Melbourne and London Slams, and the quarterfinal in Paris.

As for the trophies, she won the Adelaide International and Italian Open (she was ranked #15 back then), in addition to the French Open doubles runner-up cup with Bethanie Mattek-Sands. All in all, Swiatek has been truly phenomenal this season.

Kudermetova Overcomes Samsonova

World No. 31 Veronika Kudermetova defeated Ludmilla Samsonova in the opener here with 6-2, 6-3.

Her recent performance on the tour hasn’t been particularly impressive. Case in point, her win-loss tally is 6-10 spanning across French Open to the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic last week. To put it differently, the 24-year-old Russian kept losing in the early rounds through the last several months and it wasn’t until in Chicago that she did manage to go a step further by reaching round three.

That said, Kudermetova is a versatile player who is capable of toppling the Pole.

She was the runner-up in WTA Abu Dhabi earlier in the season and later, she won the Charleston Open to lift her first WTA singles trophy. The number 25 seed also won the Istanbul Cup doubles and was a finalist at the Wimbledon doubles.

Swiatek v Kudermetova Prediction and Tip

Seeing Kudermetova’s clinical start against Samsonova in the valley, she certainly looks equipped to take on Swiatek. This will be a good game of tennis, one where Swiatek is pegged to come out on the top although, it may not be an easy win.
