Shelby Rogers v Irina-Camelia Begu Head to Head
In their one and only encounter on the WTA Tour, Rogers emerged as the winner. They met in the 2016 French Open where the American prevailed 6-3, 6-4.

Shelby Rogers has so far successfully dispatched the likes of Anhelina Kalinina and Kristina Kucova in straight sets to reach the third round at the 2021 BNP Paribas Open.
While the 28-year-old American hasn’t reached a WTA singles final on the tour since the 2016 Rio Open, she has still done well to stay afloat in the top 50. For a short while, she even held her career-best singles ranking as World No. 40 (her current ranking is just four places below).
Rogers has enjoyed a decent run in her last couple of American tournaments, reaching the fourth round in the US Open (upsetting Ashleigh Barty en route) and the third round at the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic (defeating Bianca Andreescu in straight sets).
She also delivered a similar run in the Australian Open swing, reaching the quarterfinal at the WTA Melbourne and the round of 16 in the Melbourne Slam. All in all, her win-loss tally at the moment stands at 27-21 as she looks to build on these figures further.

Begu Delivers Teichmann Upset
Irina-Camelia Begu defeated the number 25 seed Jil Teichman 7-5, 6-1 to set up the clash with Rogers. This win also marks the second time that the 31-year-old Romanian has made it this far in the tournament.
Currently ranked #61 in the WTA singles ranking, her season so far has been largely underwhelming – evident from her W/L tally of 17-14.
However, she did make up for it recently in the Cleveland Open, where she reached the final before succumbing to Anett Kontaveit. It was her first such feat on the circuit since her winning run in the 2017 Bucharest Open.
That, alongside a third-round appearance in Wimbledon and quarterfinal runs in the Gippsland Trophy and Phillip Island Trophy mark her notable performances of the season.
