Liudmila Samsonova v Ajla Tomljanovic Head to Head
Samsonova and Tomljanovic have never featured in a head-to-head clash before. However, both are fiercely competitive tennis stars on the women’s circuit and fans could be guaranteed plenty of thrills and spills as the two go up against each other for the very first time.

Samsonova Eyeing Redemption Road after Indian Wells Downer
Samsonova came into the prestigious Indian Wells Masters in the hope of replicating her showing at her last event, the Luxembourg Open where she reached the semifinals, or possibly go two steps further to the title.
Opening her campaign against Kateryna Kozlova, the 42nd-ranked Russian took the first set by a comfortable margin but was pushed to a tiebreak in the second before pipping the Ukrainian 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).
The win saw the Russian set up a second-round meeting with fellow countrywoman Veronika Kudermetova. However, despite carrying the momentum from her victory in the opening round, Samsonova was strangely amiss against her compatriot as she was taken apart in straight sets by Kudermetova.
The eventual score-line — 6-2, 6-3 — as well as the match stats bore ample evidence of the kind of hold that Kudermetova had over the contest.
Samsonova would fervently hope to consign the memories of Indian Wells and return to winning ways as she opens her Kremlin Cup campaign on Monday.
However, her task has been rendered a lot more difficult than what she would have hoped as the Russian faces sprightly and fiery Australian Ajla Tomljanovic in round 1.
Adding to her challenge is the fact that she has never played the Aussie before and has to trust her own strengths and skill-sets to bring down her opponent.

Tomljanovic Eyeing Title-Run in Russia
Despite recording some strong finishes and taking some forward strides in the women’s game, Tomljanovic hasn’t yet been able to crack the code when it comes to lifting her maiden Tour title.
After putting herself in title contention at this year’s Wimbledon Championships on the back of a run of wins and some good fortune, the 47th-ranked Australian tripped in the business-end as she fell to a straight-set defeat to compatriot and eventual champion Ashleigh Barty in the quarter-finals.
Rising from an injury-enforced pullout at the Canadian Open, Tomljanovic did lift herself to a third-round finish at the US Open but it still wasn’t justice to the wealth of talent that she possesses.
After suffering the ignominy of an opening-round defeat at the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic, the Aussie finished in the last 16 at the Indian Wells Masters, falling significantly short of where she had hoped to be going into the event.
She would be eyeing another shot at glory on Monday as she opens her Kremlin Cup campaign against home favorite Liudmila Samsonova. apart from the home support going the Russian’s way, Tomljanovic also has to contend with the fact that she trails the Russian marginally in singles currently and has to be at her very best to get the desired outcome.
Samsonova v Tomljanovic Prediction and Tip
Playing at hoe will obviously put Samsonova at an advantage going into this first-round clash, but Tomljanovic has the game to upend top rivals and will eye a winning start to her Kremlin Cup campaign.
