With just a handful of tournaments now left on the 2021 WTA Tour, Elina Svitolina is looking to cap the year with another singles title.
So far in 2021, she has just won the Chicago Open in August and of course, the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. That said, the Ukrainian has been wonderfully consistent to keep herself afloat in the top 10, currently ranked World No. 6.
She will be heading into this match in Spain on the back of a consistent spell in the United States. Following the title run in Chicago, the 27-year-old reached the quarterfinal in the US Open and WTA 500 Chicago, and most recently the fourth-round in the Indian Wells Open (losing to Jessica Pegula 6-1, 6-1).
On the whole, Svitolina is 41-19 this season and while she is unlikely to feature in the WTA Finals in Guadalajara, she has more than enough experience and momentum under her belt to go the distance in Tenerife.

Osorio Serrano, Hunting for Wins
19-year-old Maria Camila Osorio Serrano has lost her opening-round matches in four of her last five WTA events. Like Svitolina, she featured in the BNP Paribas Open as well but fell to Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the opener.
The Columbian incurred such exits through her entire journey in the States, except for the New York major where she made it to round two, losing to Ons Jabeur in straight sets.
Looking at Osorio Serrano’s overall season, she has had her moments, most notably on clay courts. She started the year ranked in the late 180s and after winning the Copa Colsanitas in Bogota (her first singles title), and later reaching the semis in the WTA 250 Charleston and Serbia Open, she cracked the top 100.
Camila also reached the third round in Wimbledon as a qualifier, losing to Aryna Sabalenka 0-6, 3-6.
