Marketa Vondrousova v Lesia Tsurenko Head to Head

Marketa Vondrousova began her challenge at the Kremlin Open with a straight sets win over seventh seed Elena Rybakina.
The match began with four consecutive breaks of serve, but eventually it was the Czech left-hander who got a third break in the set to claim it 6-4.
Both players held serve for the first eight games of the second set but a dominant Vondrousova broke Rybakina to love in the ninth and then held on to her serve to win 6-4, 6-4.
Following the victory, the Olympic silver medallist improved to 30-18 from all matches this season, with her best performances coming on hard surfaces.
Her recent form has been particularly good. Since making the final in Tokyo, she reached the quarterfinals of the Chicago Women’s Open, the semifinals in Luxembourg and the semifinals at the Chicago 500. She also featured in the semifinals of the Yarra Valley Classic at the start of the season.
The 2019 French Open runner-up is on her debut in Moscow and will be delighted to have seen off a tough opponent in the first match.

Tsurenko Eases Past Chinese Zheng
Facing Vondrousova in the second round will be Ukrainian qualifier Lesia Tsurenko, who defeated China’s Qinwen Zheng in the first round on Monday.
Tsurenko, who beat Rebecca Šramková in the first qualifying round and Anna-Lena Friedsam in the second, has dropped a set in the last three matches.
She converted four of seven break points and saved one of three, winning the one-hour-and-27-minute contest 6-4, 6-3.
Tsurenko had also reached the Round of 16 in Astana after coming through the qualifiers. Can the 32-year-old reach her first quarterfinal of the season with a win on Thursday?
