Lloyd Harris v Marton Fucsovics Head to Head

It’s 1-1 from their two previous meetings, which were both on hard courts.

While Harris won in Chengdu in 2019, Fucsovics won in Doha this year. In neither of those matches did the winner of the first set go on to win the match.

Lloyd Harris didn’t face a single break point as he brushed aside Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in an hour and 11 minutes to reach the quarterfinals in Antwerp.

The South African fired 11 aces and broke his opponent four times in the match for a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

The 24-year-old, who reached a maiden major quarterfinal at the U.S. Open this year, will be featuring in the last eight for the fifth time this season with hopes of progressing into the semifinals for the second time in 2021.

The last time he won a quarterfinal, he went on to reach his second career final in Dubai, earlier this year, but yet again finished runner-up after falling to Aslan Karatsev in the final.

He is yet to drop a set this week, having started his Antwerp campaign with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win over Belgium’s Zizou Bergs. He wasn’t broken in that match either.

Harris had reached the quarterfinals in Antwerp last year as well, but couldn’t go beyond after being beaten by Ugo Humbert in straight sets. Can he reach the semis this year?

Fucsovics Rallies Past Bautista Agut

Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics overturned a one-set deficit to eliminate the fourth seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the second round on Thursday.

The World no. 39 lost the first set in the tiebreak but made an impressive comeback to win the two-hour-and-22-minute contest 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-1. The Hungarian struck 28 winners against the Spaniard’s 8 and converted 22 of 31 net points.

He also held 17 break points in. the match and he capitalised on six of those chances, his opponent could convert just two of the seven break points

Fucsovics, who had come into the tournament on the back of five consecutive defeats, had beaten Austria’s Dennis Novak 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 in the first round.

He had a splendid start to the season, finishing runner-up in Rotterdam and reaching the quarterfinals in Doha and Dubai before making his last eight debut at a Grand Slam at Wimbledon. However, he lost his winning touch following his Wimbledon exploits, going 1-6 in the next six tournaments. Back in form at Antwerp he will be hoping to reach a second semifinal of the season.

Fucsovics seems to be back in form and will be high on confidence after battling past the fourth seed. He will be looking to take out another seed on Friday. Expect a close three-setter with the Hungarian reaching the semifinals.
