De Minaur Still Recovering from Covid
De Minaur began the year strongly, winning the title in Antalya, and then he followed that up with victory at the Eastbourne International, the fifth of his senior career.
However, he then suffered a setback by contracting Covid, and he has been struggling badly since then, with hs body taking time to recover.
Since lifting the trophy in Eastbourne only three more wins have come his way.
Two of those did come at Indian Wells, where he got to the third round and then took Stefanos Tsitsipas to three sets, but, last week in Antwerp, he lost to the American qualifier Brandon Nakashima in the opening round, a match in which he had led by a break, but then lost the last seven games without reply.

Anderson’s Fine Record in Vienna
Anderson has a fine record in Vienna. He won the title here in 2018, and has reached the quarter-final or better on four other occasions.
However, despite those fine previous showings, such has been the South African’s slide down the rankings after all his injury problems, that he was not even given a wildcard in Austria, but made to qualify.
That makes it four consecutive tournaments where he has been made to qualify for events where he would have been among the top seeds in the past.
He is still not fully fit, but does boast two quarter-final appearances to his name in 2021 in Estoril and Nottingham, and did win his first title for more than two years in Newport in July.
In the qualifying competition he beat first local man Jirij Rodionov in straight sets, and then emerged victorious from a three set battle with the Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena.
De Minaur v Anderson Prediction and Tip
This might be a close match, with both men struggling for full fitness. However, de Minaur, as the much younger man, should start as the favourite.
