The winner of Paris Masters the last time he featured in this competition, Murray will hope he can now make a winning start to this tournament when the British wildcard takes to court.
And Murray enters his opener with a string of middling results in the tournaments preceding this match.
What’s interesting to note is that since his opening round loss in Montpellier way back in February, Murray has lost just one first round encounter – and that came at the hands of Stefanos Tsitsipas at US Open where he pushed his top-5 opponent to five sets too.
Since then, a quarterfinal at Metz and a third round appearance at Indian Wells Masters have been two of his better showings. More recently, he defeated Frances Tiafoe in the Antwerp opener and then overcame Hubert Hurkacz in the first round at Vienna but lost their second round matches both times.

Brooksby Continues Antwerp Form
A week ago, Brooksby had shown the world what he is capable of in the times to come. Needing to overcome a couple of qualifiers to make the main draw at Antwerp, the American did not drop a set en route making it to the semifinal.
And in doing so he bagelled two of his opponents, while winning against Reilly Opelka and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina as well.
Here in Paris, Brooksby was stretched in both his qualifiers, needing three setters to get past Peter Gojowczyk and Roberto Carballes Baena but he would be glad with the workout he has received.
Because against Murray, things could get trickier than was the case in Antwerp against the lesser-fancied opponents.
That said, Brooksby already has a fourth round appearance at US Open this season, which included wins over Taylor Fritz and Aslan Karatsev. Cannot count him out here.
Murray v Brooksby Prediction and Tip
While Murray has been tipped to be a favourite here, Brooksby does have the tools to get past his British opponent. Expect the American to win a set at the very least.
