Karen Khachanov v Mikael Ymer Head to Head
Khachanov and Ymer have featured in just one career head-to-head meeting till date. The pair met in the second round of last year’s Australian Open, with Khachanov prevailing in five sets.

Khachanov Looks to Get Over Russia Disappointments
After a promising campaign at the prestigious Indian Wells Masters was cut short by Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in the last 16, Khachanov flourished in the familiar confines of home, reaching the semifinals of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow with contrasting wins over two Australian — James Milner in the opener and veteran John Millman in the second round.
The win over Millman saw the 31st-ranked Russian set up a semifinal showdown with fellow countryman Aslan Karatsev. After a knife-edged opening set, which went to a tiebreak and saw Karatsev edging out Khachanov (9-7), the latter fell away in the second, crashing to a 6-7 (7-9), 1-6 to the eventual champion.
Finishing way short of where he had hoped to be at the two events back home, the tall Russian would be hoping to get off to a winning start at the Paris Masters on Wednesday against Mikael Ymer of Sweden.
Though he holds a slender 1-0 head-to-head lead going into this contest, the Russian, given his indifferent form in the recent weeks, would be well advised not to let complacency creep into his system.
His opponent snapped a run of losses with two straight wins to clear the qualifying rounds in Paris and would take a measure of belief into Wednesday’s outing against the Russian.

Ymer Hoping For a Turnaround in His Fortunes
After suffering back-to-back first-round defeats at the Kremlin Cup and St. Petersburg Open to American Tommy Paul and Evgeny Donskoy of Russia, Ymer came into the Paris Masters in the hope of a turnaround in his fortunes.
For starters, the 97th-rabked Swede had to clear the qualifying hurdles and reach the main tournament draw. And, in a clear statement of intent, he took down Spaniard Carlos Taberner and seasoned Italian Andreas Seppi in the qualifiers, albeit in contrasting fashion, to set up an opening-round clash with Khachanov.
While their only previous head-to-head outing, last year, ended in defeat for Ymer, the 23-year-old Swede would look to bounce back and go level with the Russian on the head-to-head score.
Though the odds don’t favor him, the Swede will have mined the necessary doses of confidence and momentum from his qualifying wins to push for an upset on Wednesday.
Khachanov v Ymer Prediction and Tip
While the Khachanov has a definite advantage over Ymer in terms of ranking and head-to-head record, the Swede has the game to beat the best on his day.
