Jannik Sinner v Carlos Alcaraz Head to Head
Alcaraz defeated Sinner on the clay courts of the Alicante Challenger in 2019 – their only meeting across all levels to date.

Sinner Eyes ATP Finals Spot
With the ATP Finals being held Italy for the first time, it is only fitting that multiple home players will be participating. Matteo Berrettini has already punched his ticket at the season-ending finale, and he could soon be joined by Jannik Sinner at the end of the week.
Sinner became the fifth Italian player to break the world’s Top 10 following his semifinal run at the Vienna Open last weekend. But defeat to Frances Tiafoe in Austria’s capital in which Sinner let slip a set and a break led, left him with a bad taste.
Although victory would have given Sinner a lot more room for optimism and a few points more in the Race, he is still firmly in charge of his own destiny. Sinner occupies the final position in the top eight players in the Race to Turin.
After a standout season in which he has clinched four titles, he remains a formidable opponent notwithstanding his age. This will be Sinner’s first tournament appearance in Bercy, but his record on indoor hardcourts this year is a fantastic 13-3.

Alcaraz Halts Herbert’s Charge
Carlos Alcaraz might have expected a battle in his first-round match in Paris, but not at the expense of digging his inner reservoirs to defeat the inspired Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
The Spaniard, who is the youngest player in draw this week, recovered from losing the first set to pinch the next two. He won 6-7 7-6 7-5 in a match that lasted two hours and 53 minutes.
Alcaraz had read Herbert’s serve like a book in the early part of the first set and took a 4-2 lead. But once the Frenchman recovered the break back, he did not a single service game until late in third set. Despite his poor run of results, Herbert had found a different level of energy in front of his home support.
The 30-year-old served immaculately and pressed hard enough to put Alcaraz under pressure at the most critical moments in the match. But just when it felt like he turned a corner, Alcaraz roared back and rallied to win the decider with his brute firepower.
