This will be a first meeting between the 18-year-old Raducanu and the 20-year-old Wang.

Raducanu Looking to End Season on a High

Ever since winning her maiden U.S. Open title, Emma Raducanu has had a couple of quiet tournaments. She exited the Indian Wells Open in the first round following a defeat to Aliaksandra Sasnovich and then fell to Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals of the Transylvania Open.

The 18-year-old Briton will be hoping to end the season on a high with a better display in Linz. She is the top seed in the tournament and will begin her campaign in the second round on Tuesday.

Relatively unknown at the start of the season, Raducanu made her WTA main draw debut in Nottingham and has been mightily impressive in the two Grand Slams. Wile she showed a glimpse of what she is capable of doing at Wimbledon, she achieved the unthinkable at the U.S. Open, becoming the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam tournament in the Open Era.

She is 2-2 since that victory over Leylah Fernandez in an all-teen final at Flushing Meadows, with both her wins coming in the first two rounds of the Transylvania Open. Raducanu beat Polona Hercog and Ana Bogdan but went down to Kostyuk.

On Tuesday, she will be hoping to start with a win over Wang and enter a third quarterfinal at the senior level.

Wang Fights Back From a Set Down to Advance

China’s Wang Xinyu fought back from a set down for the second time in two days to stay alive at the Linz Open.

The World No. 106, who survived a scare in the second qualifying round on Sunday, found herself a set down against Ukraine’s Kateryna Kozlova in the first round of the main draw on Monday. But the 20-year-old made another remarkable comeback to win the contest 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in an hour and 45 minutes and move into the Round of 16.

Broken twice in the first set, the Chinese player didn’t allow the Ukrainian another break in the match as she dominated the second with two breaks and got the lone break of the third to take the match.

Wang had begun the qualifying rounds with a straight sets win over Russia’s Anastasia Gasanova and then rallied from a set down to knock out Switzerland’s Leonie Kung.

Wang came into the tournament with a 31-24 record from all competitions this season, with her best performance at the senior level coming in Prague when she reached the final four stage. Most recently she was a quarterfinalist in Courmayeur and will be hoping to make the last eight in another tournament with a win on Tuesday.
