Novak Djokovic v Andrey Rublev Head to Head

Djokovic Prevails Over Gutsy Ruud
World number one from Serbia, Novak Djokovic arrived in Turin in search of a record equaling sixth ATP Tour Finals title that would tie him with Roger Federer.
It has been another phenomenal year for the Serb as he won the first three majors of the year and although he missed out on an Olympic gold and the US Open to top it up, he ended the year as the world number one for a record seventh time.
In his opener against first time entrant Casper Ruud, it was not an easy start for the Serb as Ruud broke early on and looked to consolidate thereafter. Although Djokovic broke back to equal the set, the young Norwegian kept the strong play going as the set headed for a tiebreak.
An early mini-break in the breaker ensured Djokovic had control of the tiebreak and there was no looking back from there for the world number one.
The first set went 7-4 in the tiebreak to Djokovic and before one could even blink he was up a double break in the second set. A 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 scoreline saw another opening win for the Serb at the Tour Finals as he settles into his groove aiming to secure a spot in the final four sooner rather than later.

Rublev Scalps Tsitsipas In Opener
Russian Andrey Rublev started the year on a strong note with an ATP 500 title at Rotterdam and a number of appearances in the semis and finals of other tournaments.
However, a less than impressive run in the majors and a number of early losses in recent weeks with the fatigue of the season were reason enough for him to want to end the year on a positive note.
In a repeat of last year’s nail-biter where Rublev double faulted on match point against Stefanos Tsitsipas to eventually lose 6-8 in the final set tiebreak, the Russian was off to a much more commanding start this time.
Aided somewhat by a sub-par Tsitsipas recovering from injury, it was some impressive shot making by the Russian that saw him break early in the first set and hold serve well for a 6-4 set.
The trend continued in the second set as well with Rublev staying on top and when he pushed Tsitsipas to go up a break, there was no looking back as he secured a 6-4, 6-4 opening win.
Djokovic v Rublev Prediction and Tip
Both players looked good in their openers and this makes for a good contest. While Djokovic took a bit to get into his groove, Rublev looked consistent with his shot making and played the key points very well.
Expect a good match but the world number one will have too many tricks for Rublev.
Djokovic to prevail in two well contested sets.
